I have bought this magazine for the last 4 or 5 years and have always loved it. This year I didnt think twice about picking it off the shelf and buying it, but when I got home and opened it, I was very disappointed. The pages which I used most(and in my onpinion the most popular pages) were not even in the magazine this year. These pages are the position by position breakdown. Usually there is a whole page dedicated for each position which ranks each player with a +/- under a statistical standard(ex: 40 Stolen Bases, and then there would be a +/- next to the players name indicating whether the player would have more or less than the 40SBs). Also, it would give a brief overview of the position depth and the sleepers. Instead, this year they have a crummy 2 pages of listings with no information, thus causing you to have to look each player up individually which is pretty annoying and time consuming come draft time.I love CBS Sports and would really like to stick with them, but I will definately be looking over the magazine next year (unfortunately this was not worth the [$] I payed), no longer will I just trust that they have done a good job with this. In the mean time, Ill probably have to head out to the store to look for a different magazine to use this year.Hopefully this will be fixed for next year as in past years this was the magazine to have.

I'm not sure all the criticisms of the magazine are warranted. I spent about 20 minutes at my local [...] today perusing the fantasy baseball mags. The Sportsline mag was as good as anything out there. This said, it's not great. But then, why do you buy magazines when the internet is so much more up to date. However, it's good bathroom material (where I don't take the laptop).

First off - the writers at Sportsline totally slacked on this years FBB 2008 magazine. The magazine contains articles that have already been posted to their fantasy baseball site - it does not have any sleeper or busts previews - and it does not breakdown each position with rankings and descriptions. Instead they opted to take the lazy way out and publish an alpha list of all hitters and pitchers with their overall rank and position rank. How's that going to help you on draft day. Fumbling around looking up a player by last name. Compared to last years magazine - this is just plain shotty and not worth a hard earned [$].

Comments about CBS Sportsline 2008 CBSSports.com Fantasy Baseball Owners Manual and Draft Guide:

I HAVE BOUGHT THIS GUIDE AND USED IT AS MY BIBLE TO WIN MANY TITLES. THE REASON I ALWAYS USED THE CBS GUIDE WAS BECASUE IT WAS PRINTED ON MAGAZINE QUALITY PAGES WHICH ALLOWED ME TO FLIP TO THE PAGES QUICKLY WHILE DOING RESEARCH AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WHILE IN DRAFT ROOM!! NOW THAT THEY DECIDED TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS, IT'S JUTS LIKE ALL THE OTHER PUBLICATIONS - WHICH SUCK!! FOR QUICK PAGE TURNING AND IS REALLY NEEDED AT DRAFT TIME WHEN THE CLOCK IS TICKING. THE MAGAZINE QUALITY PAGES ALSO MADE ME THE CONSUMER FEEL LIKE I WAS BUYING A HIGHER QUALITY MAGAZINE, NOW I FEEL LIKE I BOUGHT A CHEAP NO NAME BRAND FANTASY GUIDE!!

ON TOP OF THAT THEY TOOK OUT 5X5 SNAKE MOCK ROTO DRAFT. THE MOST VIEWED PAGE IN THE ENTIRE MAGAZINE! I HAVE USED THAT ONE PAGE FOR COUNTLESS DRAFTS AND HAVE RELIED ON CBS TO DELIVERY THAT MOCK DRAFT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DID NOT INCLUDE ONE MORE MOCK DRAFT, WHY THEY WOULD TAKE OUT THE ONLY MOCK DRAFT THAT HAS HELPED THEM BUILD THEIR NAME AS THE FORMER TOP DRAFT GUIDE?!

IF THEY DON'T GO BACK TO PRINTING ON MAGAZINE QUALITY PAGES AND DO NOT STICK TO THEIR ROOTS BY GIVING THEIR CORE CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY EXPECT. THEY WILL LOOSE THEIR CORE CUSTOMER BASE.

I DON'T THINK THE MAGAZINE CAN GET ANY WORSE? I GUESS I WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR, BUT UNTIL THEN I SADLY WILL NOT BE BRING THIS YEARS GUIDE WITH ME TO NFBC DRAFT.
